Our counselling sessions are free to melanoma patients, their family and friends, as malignant melanoma does not only impact on the patient but their loved ones too. Although, we are grateful for any donations, as we are a charity that rely on funding and donations.
We cover all of the Tyne & Wear area. We also provide email and telephone counselling or support to those from further afield areas too.
Through our findings it is recommended a good standard sunscreen protection is one with an SPF of 30 or above (UVB protection) and a UVA rating of 4 or 5 stars in addition to shade and clothing. It is important to choose a high SPF and UVA star rating, supermarket home brands offer reasonable priced ones, so you don’t need to pay a fortune to stay safe in the sun. Children however, should be protected with the highest SPF and UVA star rating, as well as addition to shade and clothing.
