Fundraising

Melanoma-Me is a charity that rely purely on funding and donations.

We welcome any fundraising ideas or offers of sponsorship through fundraising events. Therefore, if you would like to forward your ideas, offer your time in fundraising activities or sponsorship, please leave us a message or contact us.

Below are just some of the things we get up to, but why not also view our news page or visit our main menu to see what we’ve done recently.

skydives

Skydive

Each year, brave volunteers take to the skies and jump from planes at 15,000 ft in dedication to Melanoma-Me Foundation. We are so proud of anyone who takes part in the skydive for us, because most of us couldn’t do it! This fundraiser takes place at Shotton Airfield in Durham, fundraisers are required to raise £275 for their place, with anything on top going to the charity.

Great North Run

Every September, runners from around the country come to the North East to support Melanoma-Me by taking part one of the biggest half-marathon events in the UK. Participants will run 13.1 miles from Newcastle city centre to South Shields Sea Front. Anyone interested in Great North Run places can contact us through email at info@melanoma-me.org.uk – our places are limited each year but we will try our best to get you running! Minimum fundraising is £100 to cover you runners place and Melanoma-Me runners T-shirt.

toms fest

Tom's Fest

Each May, we hold our annual Tom’s Fest event in memory of Tom Linton who passed away due to malignant melanoma in 2020, aged only 20. Tom’s final wish was for no one to go through what he did, for his family to raise awareness of melanoma. Tom’s Fest helps achieve both of these wishes, by bringing young people together to raise awareness. The festival has various acts, stalls, food vans, bars, firebreathers, stilt walkers, comedians, princesses and so much more for all of the family to enjoy.

Alongside Tom’s Fest – we also hold campaigns in beauty salons, hairdressers, tattoo artists and anyone working closely with their clients to be able to spot the signs of melanoma and highlight this to their clients. Our work in schools through Tom’s Fest is one of our largest campaigns, raising awareness about sun safety with thousands of children from the North East and beyond.

Amanda Seymour Butterfly Ball

Our annual Butterfly Ball in memory of Amanda Seymour takes place each November as our biggest fundraiser of the year. The night is held at Ramside Hall in Durham, where we host 350 guests at a black tie ball, we have entertainment from our patron Bella Bluebell, a band and a disco to close the night. Throughout the night we have speeches, awards, auctions and raffles where everyone comes away a winner. Tickets for this night usually sell out within hours every year, so make sure to stay in touch if you want tickets for this amazing event!

Get inspired!

We always get asked by our community, both near and far, how they can support our fabulous charity.

We have created this guide to, hopefully, give some inspiration, but please drop us a message if you have any different ideas or would like to discuss anything further.

We appreciate your support.
